Dr.Ben Michael Carter Ph.D

Salma Carunia Carter B.Th

The bare bones are that Mike was born in Dallas, Texas December 31st, 1949 to the parents of Hilda & Benny Carter. Benny Carter was drafted in 1945 and served in the Philippines and Japan with the U.S. Army. Hilda Carter was a direct descendent of John Hancock, one of the founding fathers of the United States of America. When John Hancock signed his name he wrote larger than any of the others so King George of England could read it.
Mike came to know Christ in 1978 and was baptised while living in Puerto Rico. In 1980 he met Salma Carunia in Puerto Rico at Libreria Bethania while doing her internship from Bethany Missionary College, Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1982 he married the love of his life. Mike & Salma traveled far and wide for education and missionary purposes. Subsequently, Mike earned several university degrees. He also published five books. In 2005 Mike suffered an untimley death at the age of 55 in Irving, Texas.
The legacy he left, however, is a living tri-fold. All of his searching, questions, and aspirations are documented for others to take heart, follow, and study.
Harvard Divinity School seeks a scholar of World Christianity, with an emphasis on Christian movements, churches, and theological studies outside of Europe and North America and your name was brought to us as a potential candidate.
On January 23, 2004, Mike received a letter from Harvard Divinity School, informing him that they had begun a search to fill the newly endowed Monrad Chair in Christian Studies. Salma Carunia Carter evangelist teacher, and inspirational speaker whose life story reflects a profound journey of faith, resilience, and purpose. Born in 1944 and raised in the Dohnavur Fellowship in South India — the missionary home founded by Amy Carmichael — Salma overcame early life challenges as an orphan with limited opportunities. Through divine provision and unshakable faith, she rose to become a teacher, later pursued theological training in seminary and was called to be an evangelist and fulfill her ministry as a missionary to all nations, creeds, races and religions.
Salma worked at Wynberg- Allen boarding school up in the Himalayas, among the children from 5 to 13 years old. She ministered across cultural and national boundaries, and inspired countless individuals with her testimony of God’s grace and faithfulness. She later moved to the United States, where she continues to serve in ministry alongside her husband and remains committed to sharing the Gospel and empowering others to fulfill their divine calling.
Salma and her husband went to china as English teachers.
Christ Is in Me: The Hope of Glory/Victory is her debut memoir — a testament not only to her life, but to the miracle-working power of Jesus Christ in the lives of those who trust in Him. With deep spiritual insight, a heart for the broken, and a voice full of compassion and conviction, Salma’s story speaks to the soul and ignites faith in all who read it.
